Two people were trauma-alerted to the hospital following a multi-vehicle collision on SW 27th Avenue in Ocala on Wednesday morning.

At around 8:05 a.m., Ocala Fire Rescue units (Engine 4 and Rescue 4) responded to a motor vehicle accident at the 3400 block of SW 27th Avenue.

Upon arrival, the units found a Jeep with moderate front-end damage, a Prius with moderate driver’s side damage, and a Honda sedan with heavy damage to the passenger’s side.

The passenger of the Honda sedan required extrication. OFR crews used specialized tools to remove the Honda’s door on the passenger’s side, and the passenger was removed and prepared for medical transport.

The Honda sedan’s passenger, along with the driver, were both trauma-alerted to a local hospital. The driver of the Jeep was also transported to the hospital.

No other injuries were reported, and the names of the individuals involved in the accident were not released.

Fog was present in the area at the time of the accident. Ocala Fire Rescue is reminding the public to allow extra time to reach their destination and reduce their speed when driving under low visibility conditions. The use of fog lights or low beam headlights to make vehicles visible to other drivers during foggy conditions is also recommended.

The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
