Homeless woman arrested after fleeing from deputies outside Ocala Wal-Mart

Tanya Jean Greer

A homeless woman with outstanding warrants was arrested Tuesday after she ran from Marion County deputies who confronted her in the parking lot of an Ocala Wal-Mart.
Deputies received a tip that Tanya Jean Greer, 36, would be meeting someone in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart, located at 4980 E. Silver Springs Blvd. Deputies were told that Greer, who had three outstanding warrants, would be in a tan Ford Explorer Sport Trac truck, a sheriff’s office report states.

When deputies confronted Greer, she fled from the parking lot and crossed a chain link fence into an adjacent retention pond area. She then crossed into another yard and was apprehended by deputies.

The report states that Greer fell while fleeing from deputies and complained of difficulty breathing, as well as injuries to her hands and legs. She was checked at the scene by personnel from Marion Fire Rescue before being taken to the Marion County Jail.
Greer was charged with obstructing an officer without violence and four counts of failure to appear in court. She was held on $1,000 bond.

Marion County deputies also arrested Greer on March 14. In that case, she was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and driving on a suspended license. She was held on $2,500 bond after that arrest.
