McDonald’s employee hauled away in handcuffs after violent altercation at her apartment

Jessica Vivian Beavers

An Ocala woman was arrested Monday afternoon and taken away in handcuffs while on duty at a McDonald restaurant.

Jessica Vivian Beavers, 30, was charged with domestic battery after an altercation at her apartment on SE 29th Street turned violent before she arrived at her fast-food job.

According to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies responded to a call for help at Beaver’s apartment early Monday afternoon. When they arrived, a man told them that she had attacked and scratched him, the report says.

The man, who deputies noted was “very upset,” said that Beavers told him she was called into work early and needed to use her car. But the man said he needed to go buy milk. After leaving the house, the man said he returned quickly because he forgot to take his wallet. He said that’s’ when the altercation broke out because Beavers wanted the car keys and he wouldn’t give them to her.

The man claimed that Beavers scratched and hit him, and the report notes that the deputy saw a six-inch scratch on his neck and one about the same size on his right forearm, both of which were red and looked fresh.

The man said Beavers threw his laptop on the ground and broke a clipboard. He said she also pushed over a large display holding several DVDs. And the deputy noted that he saw all of that damage inside the apartment.

The man said he then went outside to Beaver’s car and she tried to drive away “in a fast manor” while he was halfway inside the front passenger side. He said Beavers ripped his black Gator T-shirt almost in half while trying to pull him out of the vehicle. And he told deputies that this wasn’t the first time she had gotten physical with him, the report says.

Finally, the man told deputies that all three of his children were present during the altercation. And when he asked his 9-year-old daughter to tell the deputy what happened, she said that her father wouldn’t give Beavers the keys so she pushed him. The deputy noted that the man wasn’t present when the daughter answered the question.

A short time later, a deputy arrived at the McDonald’s restaurant at 3223 SE Maricamp Road to question Beavers. She initially said she didn’t know why the deputy was speaking with her. But then after being advised that she needed to “tell the truth” about what had happened earlier in the day, she said the man “was only doing this to get her in trouble.” And she told the deputy that the only time she put her hands on the man was to pull him out of the car so she could go to work.

Beaver was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail. She was held on $500 bond and is due in a Marion County courtroom July 24 at 9 a.m.
