Laird Meffert Manning, 89, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on July 28, 2018. Laird was born January 13, 1929 to Wellington H. and Isabel Meffert in Ocala, Florida. Laird graduated from Ocala High School and attended Stetson University. She worked for the Ocala Star Banner and later for her husband’s Livestock Hauling business. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ocala.
Laird is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lloyd T. Manning; brother Mike Meffert (Sallie); sons David Sumner (Helen), Danny Sumner (Julie), Bruce Manning, daughters Gale Amorginos (Nick), Susan Edwards (Joey), Vicky Stephens (Larry). 13 grandchildren- Dianne Amorginos, John Amorginos, Lisa Moon (James), Matthew Tucker, Jodi Edwards, Maggie Sumner, Emily Sumner, Justin Manning, Luke Manning, Lacey Manning, Brandy Tucker (Brian), Kristen Sumner, Kaitlin Sumner, 11 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her daughter Diane Manning Clemmons and son James Manning.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, August 2, at Hiers-Baxley Chapel, 910 Silver Springs Blvd, visitation at 10:00am, and Service at 11:00am.
