Ocala man jailed after bedroom spat takes nasty turn

Reginald Bolen

A Marion County deputy arrested an Ocala man late Monday night after responding to a call for help.

When the deputy arrived at the home on NE 43rd Place, a man told him that 54-year-old Reginald Bolen had come into the bedroom the two had been staying in “for a little more than a month and began yelling at him.” He claimed that Bolen “made a fist and reared his right hand back, looking as if he was going to strike” the man, a sheriff’s office report states.

The man told the deputy that Bolen had hit him in the past and he was in fear that he “was going to strike him again,” the report says.

The deputy made contact with Bolen, who is deaf, and communicated with him through written notes. Bolen claimed that he did not hit the man but admitted that they were arguing, the report says.

Bolen was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with simple assault with intent/threat to do violence. He was held on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
