Woman nabbed on litany of charges after giving deputies false information

Tammi Channel Gough

An Ocala woman who was riding as a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by Marion County sheriff’s deputies early Monday morning ended up going to jail on a litany of charges.

The driver of a silver Infiniti told deputies that her passenger, 42-year-old Tammi Channel Gough, had an active Marion County warrant. Gough then gave deputies a false name and birthday, which came back belonging to another woman who looked totally different. Deputies then told Gough that if she had an active warrant, she needed to tell them but she continued to give them the false name, a sheriff’s office report states.

Eventually, when a sheriff’s sergeant was on the way to the traffic stop in the 1900 block of SE Hwy. 484 with a device that could identify fingerprints, Gough, who lives at 7735 SE 126th Pl. in Ocala, said she was “done playing games” and gave deputies her real name and birthday. Deputies confirmed she was wanted on a warrant for grand theft of a vehicle and she was taken into custody, the report says.

A search of the vehicle revealed a syringe and tin foil containing a brown powdery substance that field tested positive for heroin. The items were located in-between the passenger seat and door, which was “easily accessible” to Gough, the report says, adding that Gough told deputies the driver of the car was her “heroin dealer” but the heroin recovered was not hers.

Gough was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug equipment and giving false identification to a law enforcement officer. She also was held on two outstanding warrants – one for grand theft of a vehicle and the other for dealing in stolen property, the report says.

Gough, who has been housed at the Marion County Jail 15 times since 1996, was being held on $3,500 bond on the new charges and no bond on the previous charges. She also was arrested Aug. 14 on three counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle and one count of dealing in stolen property and was released the following day on $11,000 bond, jail records show.
