Marion County sheriff’s detectives have identified two stabbing victims and the man arrested in an attack that took place in Umatilla on Monday afternoon.
Christopher Allen Smith, 45, of Umatilla, was arrested shortly after Major Crimes detectives arrived at the residence, located in the 20900 block of SE 143rd Place. He was charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.
Amy Scott, 33, was pronounced dead after suffering stab wounds. Terry Crawford, 23, also suffering from a stab wound, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
A detective noted that at the time of his arrest, Smith “appeared to be under the influence of some type of drug.” The detective also said he was “all over the place with his story and asked for counsel,” referring to a witness.
Smith was being held on $150,000 bond and is due to appear in a Marion County courtroom on Jan. 29 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.
