A 24-year-old Ocala woman spent Tuesday night in the Marion County Jail after allegedly slapping her boyfriend, ripping his shirt and throwing a drink on him during an argument over a cell phone.
The victim told an Ocala Police officer he was standing outside Scarlett Howington’s car and she wouldn’t give him his phone back. He said Howington said to him, “your want to get your ass beat (expletive deleted),” then got out of the vehicle, grabbed his shirt and started to rip it, according to the OPD report.
The victim said Howington then slapped him multiple times. When asked where he was slapped, the victim said all over. He said he pushed Howington away, but she continued to slap him. The victim said he started to walk away and Howington kept slapping him, the report said.
The victim said Howington threw a drink on him later in the altercation. The officer observed the victim had a ripped shirt that was still wet when he arrived, according to the report.
Howington was charged with domestic battery and taken to jail without incident. She was released Wednesday on $500 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on July 18.
