An Ocklawaha man was jailed early Sunday morning after a profanity-laced argument with his ex-girlfriend that resulted in a demolished cell phone.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to a mobile home at 11701 E Hwy. 25 and when he arrived, a woman told him that she and her ex-boyfriend, 52-year-old Steven Francis Schoener, had been in a heated argument. She claimed Schoener took her cell phone from her purse and threw it to the floor multiple times, causing it to break, the report says, adding that the woman estimated the damage at $600.
The deputy then went to Schoener’s nearby mobile home, where he pulled a damaged iPhone from a trash can inside his residence and said it belonged to the woman. Schoener admitted there was a verbal altercation and claimed as the argument escalated, the woman slapped him in the face and said, “(Expletive deleted) you.” Schoener said he then picked up the woman’s phone, threw it to the floor and said, “No, (expletive deleted) you,” the report says.
After noting that Schoener didn’t appear to have any injuries, he was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with criminal mischief. He was released Sunday night on $1,000 bond and his next court date hasn’t’ yet been set.
