Traffic stop for expired license tag lands trio behind bars on bevy of charges

Two men and a woman were arrested late Tuesday night on a litany of charges after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle with an expired license tag.

Katlyn E. Spruill, Ricky D. Deeley and Logan Heath Tindale

The deputy first spoke with the driver, 34-year-old Ricky D. Deeley, who had a suspended license. Passenger Logan Heath Tindale, 20, of Dunnellon, had a felony warrant out for his arrest and also gave the deputy a fake name. And a second passenger, 20-year-old Katlyn E. Spruill, of Ocala, was in possession of a bag containing 23 grams of methamphetamine, a handgun, cocaine, marijuana, 20 Methylin pills and a digital scale, a sheriff’s office report states.

All three were taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.
Deeley, who has been held in the jail nine times since February 2005 on a multitude of charges, was charged with driving while license suspended (first offense) and held on $500 bond.

Tindale was charged with possession of drug equipment, giving false identification to a law enforcement officer, larceny/petit theft and warrants for violating probation on grand theft and dealing in stolen property. He was being held $3,000 bond on the new charges and no bond on the probation violations.

Tindale was held in the jail in February on charges related to grand theft, burglary, dealing in stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of cannabis less than 20 grams. He also was arrested in September 2018 on charges of carrying a concealed weapon/unlicensed electric weapon or device and possession of marijuana not more than 20 grams.

Spruill was charged with trafficking amphetamine, displaying a firearm during a felony, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana not more than 20 grams and possession of drug equipment. She also faces charges from a July 31 arrest of two counts of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, larceny/petit theft and larceny/grand theft. She is being held on $58,000 bond.

Spruill also was arrested in January 2018 on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer without violence. She spent six days in the jail before being released on $3,500 bond.
