Da’Shaun Malachi Blue

An 18-year-old Ocala man was charged with battery on a person 65 years of age or older after an argument with a woman over $50.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy on Monday that a family member gave her $50 to buy clothes for Da’Shaun Malachi Blue. She said when Blue arrived at the residence, he was upset and demanded she give the money to him. The victim said Blue was very aggressive and she was afraid he would hurt her, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she grabbed a wooden stick and told Blue she would hit him if he approached her aggressively. She said she was sitting on the couch in the living room and Blue continued to yell at her. The victim said Blue then grabbed her and reached into her front pants pocket, the report said.

The victim said she hit Blue several times with the wooden stick to get him a way from her, but she is weak and it had little effect on him. She said once Blue stopped, she left the residence and he followed her. The victim said once she was outside, she locked herself in the vehicle until Blue walked away. The deputy did not observe any injuries on the victim, according to the report.

Blue told the deputy he was walking home when he made contact with a family member, who said she gave the victim $50 for him. He said when he arrived at the residence, he asked the victim for the money and she told him she would buy him clothes. Blue said he yelled at the victim and they got into a verbal argument, and she hit him with a wooden stick, the report said.

Blue said after the victim hit him with the stick, he saw the $50 hanging out of the victim’s pocket. He said he tried to grab the money but was not successful. Blue said he left the residence and the victim followed him. He said she then locked herself inside the vehicle and he went back inside, according to the report.

Blue was taken to the Marion County Jail and released Friday on $500 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court March 31 at 9 a.m.
