Marion County canceling programs in wake of Coronavirus outbreak

Marion County officials are continuing to follow Gov. Ron DeSantis’ recommendations by canceling events in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The cancellations are part of the County Commission’s efforts for prevention prior to any confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus within Marion County.
Events that have been canceled include:

  • March 19: Pine Run Estates Advisory Board meeting at the Pine Run Community Center.
  • March 28: Marion County Day at the McPherson Governmental Campus.
  • April 4: Run 4 the Springs at the McPherson Governmental Campus.
  • April 4: Welcome Home All Veterans Day ceremony at the Ocala/Marion County Veterans Memorial Park.

Marion County parks, recreation areas and public library locations remain open to the public as regularly scheduled.

In coordination with the Florida Department of Health in Marion County and Marion County Emergency Management, twice-weekly video updates on COVID-19 will provide a concise, countywide message to residents and visitors. Look for an update specific to the community every Monday and Thursday on the county’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/MarionCountyFlorida.
