Woman nabbed after deputy sees her run stop sign and toss baggie out window

Lucy Davila

A Dunnellon woman was jailed Monday after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy saw her run through a stop sign and toss a baggie out of her car window.

When the deputy got out of his vehicle after stopping 37-year-old Lucy Davila, she started yelling that she didn’t run the stop sign before he could even make contact with her. He then located the baggie Davila had thrown out the window and the substance inside it field-tested positive for heroin, a sheriff’s office report states.

Davila was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with possession of heroin and tampering with evidence. She was released Tuesday on $4,000 bond and her next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
