A 29-year-old Belleview man found himself behind bars early Thursday morning after being accused of spitting in a police officer’s face at a local motel.
Belleview Police officers were called to the Motel 728, located at 5035 S.E. Abshier Blvd., late Wednesday night. When they arrived, they found 29-year-old Dirk Augustis Gentile “intoxicated in public causing a disturbance,” a police report states.
Gentile “actively” resisted arrest but eventually was taken into custody after allegedly spitting on the officer. He was then transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication.
Gentile, who lives at 4900 S.E. 102nd Place, No. 125, in Belleview, was being held on $3,000 bond. He’s due in court Aug. 25 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges, jail records show.
Gentile, who has numerous previous arrests, was jailed in June 2019 after a physical altercation with his father. Belleview Police responded to a disturbance at the Golden Oaks Mobile Home Park, where the victim reported that Gentile came home intoxicated and started a verbal argument with him. The bleeding victim said Gentile pushed him into cabinets and slapped him with an open hand. Gentile’s grandmother, who also lived at the residence, said she saw her grandson push the victim into the cookie sheets in the cabinet, according to a police report.
