Newest Marion County School board member to take oath of office

Allison Campbell

The newest member of the Marion County School Board will be sworn-in Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 10:45 a.m. in a ceremony airing live on the Marion Education Channel and YouTube (www.YouTube.com/MCPSmedia).

Allison Campbell will take office as her three children hold the Bible. Her husband, Andy, will administer the oath during the event, which will take place in the School Board Chambers, located at 512 S.E. Third Street in Ocala.

Campbell will represent District One, which includes Eighth Street, Greenway, Madison Street Academy, Shady Hill, South Ocala, and Wyomina Park Elementary Schools; Osceola Middle; Forest and Lake Weir High Schools; and Marion Technical Institute. She will join fellow School Board Members Eric Cummings, Kelly King, Beth McCall (who ran unopposed this year), and Nancy Thrower.

Following Campbell’s oath of office, the School Board holds its annual reorganization meeting at 11 a.m. and the annual meeting of the Marion County School Board Leasing Corp. at 11:15 a.m.

School Board members serve four-year staggered terms and regularly meet throughout the year for work sessions and meetings open to the public.

The Marion Education Channel is available on Comcast 99, Cox 12 and a handful of smaller local cable systems.
