Hampton Inn
Ocala Police are looking for two women who tried to rob a cab driver early Saturday morning outside the Hampton Inn and Suites, 3601 SW 38th Ave.

Ocala Police are looking for two women who recently tried to rob a cab driver outside the Hampton Inn and Suites.

The victim told an Ocala Police officer he picked up one white female and Hispanic female at a location that was redacted from the police report. He said during the taxi ride neither woman seemed suspicious or nervous in any way, according to the report.

The victim said when they arrived at the hotel, located at 3601 SW 38th Ave., the Hispanic female got out of the cab and stood by the sliding doors while the white female stayed in the taxi. The victim said he told the white female who stayed in the taxi what the fare was, which was $45, and she said she was going to have her boyfriend bring the money down. At that point, she got out of the taxi and hung outside with the Hispanic female, the report said.

A short time later, the white female walked back to the taxi, got in through the rear passenger-side door, pulled a switchblade knife and held it to the victim’s neck, and said, “are you going to give me your money?” The victim said he replied, “Nope,” and the white female got out of the taxi, ran through the inside of the hotel, down a back hallway and out the back door, followed by the Hispanic female. The Hispanic female changed her clothing in the back of the hotel and left her clothes behind, according to the report.

The victim said the Hispanic female was last seen wearing a white top with pink pants and the white female was last seen wearing a black sweater with cut-up blue jeans and black tennis shoes, the report said.

The hotel security guard showed the officer the camera footage, which showed the taxi arriving at 5:22 a.m. At 5:23 a.m., it shows the white female entering the taxi for the second time and pulling the black switchblade knife to the victim’s neck, and at 5:24 a.m. it shows the Hispanic female changing clothes in the back of the hotel, according to the report.

The clothing the Hispanic female changed out of was given to the evidence officer at the scene. The Marion Count Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit arrived and tried to do a track, but they were unsuccessful, the report said.
