A Weirsdale man was arrested recently after Marion County sheriff’s deputies spotted him walking along S. Hwy. 25 and knew he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Deputies made contact with 50-year-old Timothy Lugwig Bersani and confirmed that he had an outstanding warrant for violating his probation on a charge of resisting an officer. Deputies then searched Bersani and located a transparent baggie in is rear right pants pocket that contained crystallized substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, a sheriff’s office report states.

Bersani was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession and/or use of drug equipment and violating his probation on a past charge of resisting an officer without violence. He was being held on $3,000 on the new charges and no bond on the probation violation and is due in court May 17 and May 18 to answer to the charges, jail records show.
