Marion County sheriff’s detectives are investigating an early morning homicide at a popular Ocala truck stop just off Interstate 75.
Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 2:10 a.m. Sunday to the Pilot Travel Center at 2020 S.W. Hwy. 484 after receiving calls about a disturbance in the parking lot, where a large crowd had gathered. They learned that a shooting had just occurred following an argument, a sheriff’s office report states.
When deputies arrived, they discovered that 21-year-old Zion Willis had been killed and another person had been injured by gunfire. The injured victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover, the report says.
