City of Ocala looking to award over $900,000 in lawn maintenance contracts to Diverse Small Business Enterprise members

The city of Ocala will look to award over $900,000 in lawn maintenance contracts to multiple businesses that are part of the city’s Diverse Small Business Enterprise.

Contracts with fourteen citywide grounds maintenance companies are up for approval during the next Ocala City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 19.

The fourteen companies will provide a variety of grounds maintenance services including mowing and trash cleanup, across stormwater drainage retention areas throughout the area.

Among the fourteen companies selected are North Central Florida Landscaping and Lawn Care, LLC, Terry Clark Services, Inc., W-N-W Landscaping, and Top Quality Lawn Maintenance, LLC, to name a few.

All fourteen companies are certified as Diverse Small Business Enterprises, meaning that they are at least fifty-one percent owned and operated by minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, veterans, or veterans with disabilities.

If approved by the city council, all of the companies will receive a three-year contract, with an option for one additional two-year renewal.

The total funding for all of the contracts is $909,300 over a three-year duration through September 30, 2024

According to city records, Ocala Public Works Stormwater Division has faced staffing problems and has been unable to accomplish maintenance tasks in a timely matter. The city believes that the new contracts will be more cost effective.

The Ocala City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at Ocala City Hall, which is located at 110 SE Watula Avenue in downtown Ocala.
