Cantina Tex Mex & Tequila will officially open its new downtown Ocala restaurant next month.
The restaurant announced this week that it plans to celebrate the grand opening of its new location at 35 SE 1st Avenue on Thursday, December 2.
“In the meantime, we’re ‘soft opening’ for our live trainings daily this week at 4 p.m., and starting at 11 a.m. next week,” reads a post from the restaurant’s social media profile. The restaurant will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Located across the street from Harry’s Seafood, Bar & Grill, the restaurant recently hosted guests to showcase its newly renovated digs and menu, which will feature a bevy of Tex-Mex favorites including Mexican grilled corn, nachos, quesadillas, and burritos. Watch video of the event here.
Last month, the organization announced the hiring of its chef, Eric Natera, who was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, and has worked at restaurants and hotels throughout central and south Florida. They also announced the hiring of two new managers, who have decades of experience in local restaurants and bars.
There are multiple restaurants in Ocala that are in various stages of planning and development.
That includes Cantina’s neighbor in downtown Ocala, Mellow Mushroom, which is still under construction at a building that replaced the previously demolished building and former home of the Brother’s Keeper Thrift Store.
In October, Elevation 89 celebrated the grand opening of its new restaurant at the Ocala International Airport.
Culver’s also celebrated the grand opening of its first Ocala location last month. The fast food chain is located along SW College Road, just a few doors down from Chicken Salad Chick, which also opened its doors recently.
