Ronald Merle Fauser, 79, born August 24, 1943 in Oelwein, Iowa to Max Adolph Fauser and Mary Leta Hines Fauser, passed away October 4, 2022 at the University of Florida, Shands Hospital, in Gainesville, Alachua County.

Everyone will remember Ron foremost for his deep faith and devotion to family. He was a proud American patriot and four-year Marine Corps veteran, in service on water and land as an artillery repair specialist. In his retirement he was a talented woodworker, genealogist, champion pickleball partner and one heck of a ping-pong adversary. A visit to his or his children/grandchildren’s homes reveals the spectacularly beautiful cabinetry and furniture his skilled hands created. Ron had a deep passion for his immediate, extended and ancestral family as evident by his regular attendance at family reunions and the collection of family photos, journals and detailed records he maintained. Pickleball enabled him to further extend his circle of friends, as his likable manner attracted them wherever he played. Excellence at the sport extended his collection of trophies, as well. Only someone willing to go down in defeat would dare challenge Ron to a ping-pong match and he would willingly, but amiably, enjoy victory.

With a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology from the University of Northern Iowa, Ron was employed by John Deere, working in the Cedar Falls, IA and Horicon, WI facilities as a designer and technical writer. He never lost his love of technology and writing, always keeping up with the pace of innovation in computer and software systems.

Ron was preceded in death by both of his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years; Nancy Caroline Tompkins Fauser and children Timothy Alan Fauser (Suzanne); Deborah Elaine (Andy) Petersen as well as his five grandchildren: John, Katrina, Anna, Matthew and Joshua. He is also survived by his siblings Connie Henkle, Max Fauser, Richard (Jane) Fauser, Linda Morgan and Robert (Jill) Fauser.

Ron met Nancy through his cousin and what started as an introduction ended with a life together full of shared goals, children, grandchildren, adventure and travel. He was an avid volunteer in organizations including service on church boards, Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts and Junior Achievement. Perusing through Ron’s collection of travel photos shows his love visiting his children, grandchildren and new places; and there was always another trip being planned. This journey now into his Father’s arms is just the beginning of his eternal adventure.
