Pitchfork-wielding Micanopy man jailed after allegedly pushing elderly man to ground, chasing him

A 69-year-old Micanopy man was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office after he was accused of pushing an elderly man to the ground and threatening him with a pitchfork.

On Wednesday, an MCSO deputy responded to the 21600 block of NW 58th Court in Micanopy in reference to a verbal altercation. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the male victim who advised that he was at a local residence when the incident occurred, according to the arrest report.

The victim told the deputy that he was sitting at the incident location when Charles Allen Yorke approached him and shoved him to the ground.

According to the victim, Yorke then grabbed a pitchfork from the victim’s trailer, and he allegedly chased the victim on foot down NW 58th Court while holding the pitchfork and “yelling random things.” The deputy noted in the MCSO report that an eyewitness corroborated the victim’s statement.

The deputy made contact with Yorke. After being read his Miranda rights, Yorke was “not cooperative” and refused to discuss the incident.

Yorke was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held on $30,000 bond. He is facing felony charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, burglary with assault or battery, and battery on a person 65 years of age or older, along with a misdemeanor charge for battery.

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
