19-year-old woman killed in crash on I-75 in Marion County

A 19-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel was killed on Wednesday night in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 75 in Marion County.

At approximately 9:10 p.m., the woman was traveling southbound in a sedan on I-75, near mile marker 354, when her vehicle veered off the roadway and into the emergency lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that a pickup truck with a trailer in tow was parked in the outside emergency lane of I-75 southbound. When the sedan entered the emergency lane, it proceeded to crash into the rear of the truck’s trailer.

The sedan’s driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified in the report as a 39-year-old man from Dade City, sustained minor injuries.

The report stated that the crash is under further investigation. The names of the drivers involved were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
