Homicide investigation: 18-year-old man fatally shot in NW Ocala

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the person who fatally shot an 18-year-old man in Ocala on Monday evening.

At around 6 p.m., MCSO deputies responded to the 4400 block of NW 22nd Avenue after receiving reports that multiple gunshots had been fired in the area. Upon arrival, deputies learned that a man, identified as 18-year-old Tylique Le’John Christie, had been shot.

Christie was transported to a local hospital in critical condition prior to the arrival of law enforcement. At around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

“MCSO Major Crimes detectives are now conducting a homicide investigation and are actively working to identify possible suspect(s),” stated the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in a media release.

According to MCSO, detectives believe that this shooting is an isolated incident.
