The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who allegedly stole an elderly woman’s purse at a grocery store in Ocala.
On Wednesday, July 5, a 77-year-old woman was shopping at the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 7855 SW Highway 200 in Ocala. While she was in the store, a man (pictured below) allegedly stole her purse out of a shopping cart, according to a social media post from MCSO.
The sheriff’s office stated that the male suspect headed to the electronics section and attempted to make a $1,313.96 purchase using the victim’s credit card, but the transaction was declined. The suspect then allegedly left the store with the victim’s purse and a soda that he did not pay for.
Shortly after leaving the grocery store, the male suspect traveled to the Circle K gas station located at 7580 SW Highway 200. MCSO stated that the suspect then used the victim’s credit card to purchase gasoline, and he allegedly discarded the victim’s purse near the gas pumps.
“We need your help getting this thief off our streets before he steals again,” stated MCSO on its Facebook page.
