Motorists traveling southbound on Interstate 75 in Marion County are experiencing traffic delays after a semi-truck jackknifed near exit 354 on Tuesday morning.
According to Ocala Fire Rescue, all southbound lanes near the Highway 27 overpass (exit 354) are currently blocked due to an accident involving a jackknifed semi-truck and a pickup truck that rolled onto its roof.
OFR stated that multiple units were dispatched to I-75 southbound at around 8:30 a.m., and crews observed the semi-truck and overturned pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck was ejected during the rollover crash, and paramedics transported the driver to a local hospital as a trauma alert.
The semi-truck’s driver was not injured in the crash.
Motorists traveling northbound on I-75 are also encountering delays due to separate crashes that occurred near exit 352 at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday. According to OFR, multiple units responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident on I-75 northbound.
Upon arrival, OFR crews observed separate single-vehicle crashes involving a pickup truck hauling a moving trailer and a semi-truck. OFR stated that there were no injuries reported, though there was extensive damage to the guardrail, and the semi-truck was blocking the outside lane of traffic near exit 352.
The Road Ranger Service Patrol and Florida Highway Patrol also responded.
As of 11 a.m. on Tuesday, traffic on I-75 is still affected in both directions. Ocala Fire Rescue encourages the public to avoid the area or seek alternate routes.
