‘Kayak & Koffee’ event heads to Kings Landing next month

Registration is now open for the October installment of Marion County’s kayaking program, Kayak & Koffee, and the event will take participating paddlers to the Wekiva River.

On Friday, October 13, participants will meet at Brick City Adventure Park (1211 SE 22nd Road in Ocala) at 7:45 a.m. for coffee and a light breakfast. The Marion County Parks and Recreation Department will then provide transportation to the launch site.

The trip will feature a relaxing paddle down the lower Wekiva River to Kings Landing, which is one of the many tributaries that feeds the Wekiva River basin. According to the parks and recreation department, participants will enjoy this outing the most if they know basic paddling concepts and how to swim.

The event is open to adults (ages 18 and up). There is a $50 fee per participant, and all equipment, travel, entrance fees, coffee, and refreshments are included in the outing.

The registration fee will be lowered to $25 for any participants who bring their own equipment.

For more information, or to sign up, visit the Marion County Parks and Recreation Department’s Kayak & Koffee webpage or call 352-671-8560.
