Operation in Marion County leads to 6 arrests on child porn charges

A four-day operation led by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, with assistance from Ocala police and Homeland Security Investigations, resulted in the arrest of six individuals on multiple child pornography charges.

According to MCSO, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) had identified several residences in Marion County as “being associated with persons who may be in possession of child sexual abuse material.”

During this operation, investigators responded to those residences and spoke with the individuals who had been identified in the NCMEC tips. In addition, all electronic devices belonging to those individuals were searched.

MCSO stated that the following individuals were found to be in possession of child sexual abuse material:

Michael Kozierowski (57)

According to the arrest report, 57-year-old Ocklawaha resident Michael Kozierowski was identified as a teacher and volleyball coach at Eustis Middle School.

During a search of Kozierowski’s home, a desktop computer was observed on a small table, and it was next to a “bottle of lubricant.” While searching the computer, investigators located images depicting child pornography, and many of the files had been “recently downloaded and viewed” as recently as December 3, 2023.

Kozierowski told investigators that he was the only person with access to the devices within the home.

Kozierowski was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail, and the Eustis Police Department was notified of his arrest. He is being charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography.

According to the arrest report, child sexual abuse material was found on an iPhone and laptop belonging to 31-year-old Ocala resident Daniel James Carroll. During a post-Miranda interview, he admitted to “downloading, storing, and regularly masturbating” to the child pornography.

Carroll also told investigators that he is a “self-professed pedophile,” and he “came to terms with his sexual attraction to children” several years ago.

Carrol was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. He is being charged with 22 counts of possession of child pornography.

Matthew Thomas Davidson (17)

According to the arrest report, 17-year-old Dunnellon resident Matthew Thomas Davidson admitted to viewing child pornography on his iPhone. He told investigators that the images depicted children who were “between the ages of 5 to 9 years of age.”

Davidson further told investigators that he viewed child pornography on his iPhone “as recently as a month or two ago.”

Davidson was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. He is being charged with six counts of possession of child pornography.

According to the arrest report, a search of the web browser history on an iPhone belonging to 19-year-old Fort McCoy resident Dominik Robinson revealed that he was “actively seeking out child sexual abuse material on the internet.” During a post-Miranda interview, Robinson told investigators that he has a “tick” that caused him to access child sexual abuse material on his iPhone, and he would “feel ashamed” while masturbating to the images.

Robinson further admitted that he uploaded “about seven videos” of child sexual abuse material involving children that were between the ages of 10 to 14, and he stated that he last looked at those images on December 2, 2023.

Robinson was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. He is being charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography, one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, and one count of resisting without violence.

According to the arrest report, images depicting child pornography were found on an iPhone belonging to 19-year-old Ocala resident Christopher Carley. During a post-Miranda interview, he admitted that he “often downloads pornography from the internet.”

Carley told investigators that the files on his iPhone contained “hentai, adult pornography, and child pornography.” The report stated that the online account Carley used to store images depicting child pornography was “locked in early 2023” when over 170 items of potential child sexual abuse material were uploaded.

Carley admitted that he continued to view child sexual abuse material after his account was locked, though he advised that he did not save the images.

Carley was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. He is being charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography.

According to the arrest report, investigators took receipt of a USB drive that contained the contents of a Dropbox account belonging to 25-year-old Summerfield resident Cameron Jason Rios. During a search of the account, seven files of child sexual abuse material were found, along with hundreds of other files of adult pornography and computer-generated pornographic images.

Rios traveled to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for an interview, and he stated that he had used his Dropbox account “as recently as last year.” He admitted to viewing and downloading child pornography, as well as uploading those images to Dropbox, though he “denied ever masturbating to child pornography.”

Rio was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. He is being charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, additional charges may be forthcoming as investigators continue to review the electronic devices belonging to the six individuals who were arrested during the operation.
