A new monthly music series featuring local and regional artists will kick off in downtown Ocala on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Hosted by the City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department, the Sunset Songs Series will feature artists playing original music ranging from funk to blues, reggae, and country. The concerts will be held once a month, January through May, on Wednesday nights at the Downtown Square located at 1 SE Broadway Street in Ocala.
The first concert in the series will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on January 10, and it will feature Jacksonville-based band Honey Hounds. Known for their heavy-hitting yet soulful renditions of the blues, their catalog also includes funk, rock, and pop influences.

On Wednesday, February 7, The Lee Boys will continue the music series. They are considered one of America’s finest African American sacred steel ensembles. “Sacred steel” is described as an inspired, unique form of Gospel music with a hard-driving, blues-based beat, and the genre is infused with rhythm and blues, jazz, funk, hip-hop, country, and more.

All concerts in the Sunset Songs Series will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Downtown Square. There is no cost to attend, and guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.
