Ronald J. Gable Sr.

Ronald J. Gable, Sr. 87, died Monday, January 15, 2024, in Lecanto, FL. He was born May 24, 1936, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Joseph and Priscilla Gable. Ron retired in 1998 as a mechanic from a privately-owned garage in Bayonne, New Jersey. He also retired from the Cranford Police Department where he volunteered for 17 years and became the first Chief of Police in Auxiliary Police history. Ron volunteered more than 5,000 hours to the Cranford Police Department and community during those 17 years.

Ron moved to Citrus Springs in 1998 where he was a communicant and usher for the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and member of the Spanish American Club. He enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, watching sports and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eva Gable of 51 years and survived by his sons, Michael Gable, Linden, NJ, and Ronald J. Gable, Jr. (Rebecca Gable), Canandaigua, NY; his five grandchildren, Rochelle, Sydney, Jaime, Joseph and Jessica; and two great-grandchildren, Ian and Jack. Ron was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Gable, Barnegat, NJ; his brother Robert Gable, Parsippany, NJ ; sister-in-law Gloria Ortiz, Citrus Springs, FL; he is survived by his brother Al Gable (Dolores Gable), The Villages, FL; his sister-in-law Barbara Gable, Barnegat, NJ; his sister-in-law Josie Cook, Citrus Springs, FL; his brother-in-law John Ortiz; his brother-in-law Fred Rodriguez, FL.

Ron’s family will be receiving friends from 4-6pm Monday, January 22, 2024, at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon. A funeral mass will be 10:30am Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs.
