New utility poles to cause road closure in downtown Ocala

A road closure will soon be in effect in downtown Ocala to accommodate the installation of new utility poles.

According to the City of Ocala, the road closure will be in effect at the intersection of E Fort King Street and SE 11th Avenue beginning on Thursday, June 13 through Friday, June 14.

On both days, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., construction crews will be replacing utility poles at the intersection.

Motorists traveling in the area will use the following detour routes:

  • Northbound – SE 11th Avenue: Traffic will go west on SE 5th Street, north on SE 10th Avenue, west on E Fort King Street, north on SE 9th Terrace, east on E Silver Springs Boulevard, and back onto SE 11th Avenue.
  • Southbound – SE 11th Avenue: Traffic will go west on E Silver Springs Boulevard, south on SE 9th Terrace, east on E Fort King Street, south on SE 10th Avenue, east on SE 5th Street, and back on SE 11th Avenue.
  • Eastbound – E Fort King Street: Traffic will go south on SE 10th Avenue, east on SE 5th Street, north on SE 16th Avenue, and back on E Fort King Street.
  • Westbound – E Fort King Street: Traffic will go south on SE 16th Avenue, west on SE 5th Street, north on SE 10th Avenue, and back on E Fort King Street.

All necessary devices will be in place to redirect traffic in the area. During construction times, motorists may experience delays, noise, dust, and heavy equipment within the project areas.
