Wawa has set the grand opening date of its seventh location in Ocala and will celebrate the occasion with free coffee, free t-shirts, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The newest Wawa will open at 2277 SW Hwy 484 on September 12 at 8 a.m. The new gas station is located less than a mile west of a recently opened SuperWash.
As is customary, Wawa is offering a series of giveaways to celebrate the opening of its new station, which is its seventh in the city of Ocala.
At the grand opening, Wawa will give the first 100 customers free t-shirts, while supplies last, as well as free “any-size” hot coffee.
The Wawa mascot, Wally Goose, will also attend the event. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m., according to a press release from the company.
The grand opening of the seventh Wawa in Ocala comes almost exactly seven months after Wawa opened its sixth location in the city along State Road 200.
The Pennsylvania-based company opened its first three gas stations in Ocala simultaneously in 2019 at 1001 S Pine Avenue, 3601 E Silver Springs Boulevard, and 3312 W Silver Springs Boulevard.
Just a few weeks after opening its first three locations in Ocala, Wawa opened its fourth gas station in the city at 4025 SW College Road.
That location is about 10 miles from where the new gas station will be situated.
Wawa opened its fifth location in Ocala at 3080 SE Maricamp Road in February 2020.
There are over 1,000 Wawa locations across the United States. Nearly 300 of those gas stations are located in the Sunshine State. According to a statement issued by the company earlier this year, Wawa plans to open at least 70 new stores this year, including its first stores in Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina.
The company says that every new store generates “at least 35 new local, long-term jobs” and becomes a “committed community partner” in supporting local causes.
“Since our first store opened its doors 60 years ago, it’s been an honor serving our communities with trusted quality products and convenience to most importantly offering comfort and camaraderie to local friends and neighbors,” said Chris Gheysens, the Chief Executive Officer of Wawa.
