Last weekend, two Olympians from Ocala returned to the city where they both claimed medals in 2022, finishing third in the first team sprints of the 2024 World Cup season.
Brittany Bowe and Erin Jackson were two-thirds of the United States team that claimed bronze during the International Skating Union World Cup event held in Beijing, China from November 29 to December 1.
The women, who are both originally from Ocala, were joined by their teammate, Kimi Goetz, on the podium.
The Americans finished just 0.01 seconds behind Poland, who took second place, and 0.73 seconds behind the winning team from the Netherlands.
With the win, Bowe and Jackson are off to a quick start to the World Cup season.
Bowe claimed gold in the 1000-meter women’s speed skating race at the ISU’s Four Continents Championships in Japan in November. Jackson claimed gold in the 500-meter race at the same event.
According to the ISU’s website, the World Cup Speed Skating Series will host its next event in Milwaukee from January 31 to February 2, 2025.
