A Save A Lot in east Ocala has permanently closed its doors after multiple decades in business.
The Save A Lot located at 1926 E Silver Springs Boulevard has ceased operations. The grocery store’s online listings show that it is “permanently closed” and the telephone number to the business has been disconnected.
Ocala-News.com users reported the closure in the past few days.
City permitting records show that the Save A Lot in east Ocala was built out at the space nearly 30 years ago in 1995. The building itself was built in 1957, according to city records.
Over the past three decades, the grocery store underwent several exterior and interior renovations. That includes the addition of a roadside sign in 2013, according to permitting records.
With the closure, the Save A Lot at 9264 SE Maricamp Road becomes the sole location for the grocery store chain in Ocala.
There are currently around 900 independently owned and operated Save A Lot locations across the country.
The highest concentration of stores can be found in Florida, where there are at least 130 Save A Lot stores.
The east part of Ocala has seen several business closures and openings over the past year.
In August, Franco’s opened a new Italian restaurant in the former Lorito’s space.
Blue Highway Pizzeria officially closed its doors and is currently undergoing renovations to become the second Cajun Jimmy’s Seafood Seller location.
In May, Starbucks opened a new location along East Silver Springs Boulevard, next to Wawa.
