A new restaurant that serves hibachi, poké, and ramen will open next month in southwest Ocala, replacing a pizzeria that shut down in 2024 after a five-year run.

Samurai Hibachi and Ramen is currently working on a new location at 2606 SW 19th Avenue Road, Unit A103.

The restaurant is taking over a space formerly occupied by J Rocks Pizzeria, which closed last June.

Although the business plans to open next month, an exact opening date has not yet been announced.

According to state corporate records, the owners of the new restaurant are Wen Xing Li and Hong Chen. Li and Chen are restaurateurs who operate multiple Japanese, hibachi-style restaurants in Panama City, Florida.

As its name suggests, Samurai Hibachi and Ramen will offer poké bowls, hibachi, and “build-your-own” ramen options, as well as several other traditional Japanese dishes.

Samurai Hibachi joins a growing offering of Asian cuisine in Ocala. Foody Bowl opened a restaurant in southwest Ocala over the Summer and last June, Poké Go opened a new spot in the same part of the city.

In October 2023, the city got its first K-POT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot location.

In February 2023, Zuru Ramen and Boba opened its first location at the Market Street at Heath Brook.
