Ocala Breeders’ Sales generated over $88 million from 637 horses during its April event, with nine of the horses selling for over $1,000,000.

During its Spring Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale last week, OBS reported gross revenue of approximately $88,761,500, representing an increase of over $6 million from 2024’s session ($82,373,500).

The four-day event yielded at least nine sales of over $1 million, with one horse selling for $1.5 million, and several others cresting the $1.25 million mark.

According to OBS, the average of $139,343 per horse set a new record, besting the previous mark by nearly $10,000.

“The international buyers were here, and they were excited to buy horses, and it looks like they did. Certainly, we had a broad spectrum of buyers from all over the world,” said Tod Wojciechowski, OBS Director of Sales, in a statement issued by the organization.

The sale, which was held at OBS’s facility at 1701 SW 60th Avenue, was attended by Governor Ron DeSantis, who lent his support in opposition to a thoroughbred decoupling bill making its way through the Florida legislature.

In March, Ocala Breeders’ Sales reported nearly $66 million in sales, including one horse that sold for a record-setting $3 million.

During the organization’s winter sale, around 213 horses were sold for just over $3.1 million.

During the Ocala Breeders’ June Sale last summer, approximately 582, two-year-old horses were sold for over $21 million.

In April 2024, around 633 horses were sold for just over $82,000,000 during the OBS Spring Sale. Just a few weeks before that, OBS reported around $66 million in sales during its March event, including four horses that were sold for over $1 million.

Ocala Breeders’ Sales will host is next event in June, when it will broker sales of Two-Year-Olds and Horse of Racing Age, according to its website.
