A couple who sold their pizzeria in Ocala last year and retired after 40 years in business will use those decades of experience to reenter the pizza industry just north of the city later this month.
Sanford “San” Felder and his wife, Jacqueline (“Jacki”), are working to bring The Original San’s Pizzeria back to Marion County. The Felders are taking over the former Anthony Pizza & Sub location at 9520 NE Jacksonville Road in Anthony.
Along with their daughter, Cara Turro, and son-in-law, Nick Turro, San and Jacki say the new restaurant will be full service and will also offer pick-up and delivery options.
Last week, the group announced that it plans to open its doors in mid-July.
“Get ready, Anthony! A fresh slice of flavor is on its way. The Original San’s Pizzeria is firing up the ovens and bringing handcrafted, mouthwatering food to the heart of our town! Every item on our menu is made with love, fresh ingredients, and that unmistakable San’s taste. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite, feeding the whole family, or looking for your new favorite restaurant spot — we’ve got you covered,” reads a statement posted by the organization to social media.

Last August, San and Jacki sold their former location in Ocala (San’s Pizzeria) to new owners. That restaurant is situated at 4953 NW Blitchton Road, in the Quail Meadow Commons Shopping Center.
The move to reenter the pizza business after retiring is not the first for the Felders. In September 2021, the couple ended their retirement and opened San’s Pizzeria in northwest Ocala. That restaurant opened just over a year after the couple retired from their original location in Palm Harbor in August 2020.

The Felders and Turros have not yet announced an opening date for their new restaurant, but say they “look forward to serving the Anthony community and Ocala.”
