A new business that would serve fresh deli meats and cheeses by the pound is seeking permission to also sell beer and wine at a historic site in south Marion County.
A special use permit to allow for on-site sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages for The Inn Spot is part of the Marion County Planning and Zoning Commissions’s regular meeting.
The property in question is the old Oklawaha Inn, located at 13490 E. Highway 25 in Ocklawaha. It is situated just north of Gator Joe’s and just west of Ocklawaha Liquors.

According to a business plan filed with the county, The Inn Spot would be operated as a deli/beer and wine tavern with a goal of serving fresh deli meats and cheeses by the pound.
The business would also offer “freshly made traditional sandwiches and specialty sandwiches along with homemade sides and desserts.”
The Inn Spot will also features a pool table, an electronic dart board, and arcade games.
The new business is owned by Wise’s Enterprises, LLC, a company registered to Justin Wise and Edward Wise, who is a real estate agent.

The entire building is owned by JRB Property Management, LLC, a company that is based in Palmetto, Florida.
According to Marion County property records, the building at the site was allegedly built in 1931. A photo filed by the University of North Florida in 2010 claims the building was build earlier, with the name not being added in masonry until 1927.
Regardless of the Marion County Planning and Zoning Commission’s recommendation, a final decision on the special use permit request must be reviewed by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners for final approval.
The Marion County Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the last Monday of every month at the McPherson Governmental Complex (601 SE 25th Avenue).
