The same company that sold the Paddock Mall for $54.9 million earlier this year just sold another shopping center in Ocala for over $42 million.

Gaitway Plaza, which is located at 2701 SW College Road in southwest Ocala, was just sold by Gaitway Fee Owner, LLC, for $42,250,000 to Next Ocala, LLC, on December 11.

According to state corporate records, Next Ocala, LLC, is owned by Next Realty, a commercial real estate agency based in Skokie, Illinois. That company created a Next Realty Fund XI, LP, last year and this was the first acquisition under that umbrella.

The 209,028-square-foot plaza is filled with several national retailers, including TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less, Michaels, Five Below, Dollar Tree, and Office Depot.

Over the past 18 months, Gaitway Plaza has welcomed the addition of two more national retailers in Magnolia Soap and Bath Co. and Golf Galaxy.

The previous group that owned it, Gaitway Fee Owner, LLC, is registered to the Washington Prime Group.

Earlier this summer, Washington Prime Group sold the Paddock Mall as part of a four-mall deal worth an estimated $178.9 million. A deed filed with the Marion County Clerk of Courts shows that the Paddock Mall was purchased for $54,900,000 of that amount.

The ownership change of Gaitway Plaza joins the sale of another shopping plaza just nearby on SW College Road. That center was sold for nearly $7 million in February.
