Construction is moving swiftly at the site of the future Marion County Fire Rescue Lowell Fire Station #11, where crews have raised the walls and are preparing for the next phase of foundation work.

Located at 11655 NW Gainesville Road in north Ocala, Ocala-based Dinkins Construction began work after officials broke ground on the project last month.

According to a construction update released by the department on Tuesday, the project has reached several key milestones recently. The footers have been poured and the concrete block walls are now standing.

Crews from Dinkins are currently preparing to pour the remaining foundation on Friday.

“Each milestone brings us one step closer to enhancing emergency response and service for our community,” MCFR stated in the update. The department also thanked the construction crews for their “hard work in the cold January temperatures.”

Construction crews are making brisk progress at the site of the new fire station.

The Lowell project represents the latest effort by Marion County to modernize its emergency infrastructure.

It follows the opening of the new Citra Station #2, which officials unveiled last April. That facility, located at 2189 NE 180th Lane, replaced a previous station on the same site and features several upgrades over its predecessor.

Fire officials emphasized that the new structures are being built with the future in mind, aiming to provide “strong foundations for safer communities.”
