To the Editor:

Response to the letter you choose to publish from Kelly Kendrick of Summerfield. It seems this person took great details to describe their pure heritage. During my time in the military, I served next to Americans of all races and culture backgrounds. I stood shoulder to shoulder with these men and women, these great patriots. We relied on each other. We did not dwell on our differences, we did our jobs and protected each other. We did not need to define our heritage.

Our mission “DE OPPRESSO LIBER.” Translation: “FREE THE OPPRESSED.”

We wore this as our unit patch. Do not fool yourself, America is a great nation, still under great threat. Our leaders make difficult decisions.

In my opinion, we need to trust the process, support the elected even if they are not our favorites. Voice disagreements at the voting polls, many in the world do not have this opportunity.

Do not riot in the streets, no looting, do not disrespect civil authority be that local, federal, or otherwise. When civil authority is not followed, things go quickly sideways and this can have terrible outcomes for all involved. Believe in the constitution. Yes, we are a Constitutional Republic governed by a democratically elected body.

In summary, “We the People” determine our own fate. Demonstrations, riots, and false calls to actions are ill-serving to our goal of a free and just society, they simply do not respect the same ultimate sacrifice so many have made for us to be free.

Trust the process, stand up, and vote! Support America, not dissension, or soon we could be weakened and be the ones that need to be liberated/freed (“DE OPPRESSO LIBER”).
