This week marks the eleventh anniversary of A Day To Remember’s “City of Ocala,” an ode to the city that has been streamed or viewed tens of millions of times since its release over a decade ago.

Over a decade after A Day to Remember released its video capturing an ode to its hometown on March 9, 2015, the track remains a staple of the band’s identity.

The two music videos on YouTube for the song have 8,466,752 views, while Spotify shows that the song has been streamed over 29,727,311 times.

The video serves as a visual time capsule of Ocala, featuring city landmarks, local venues, and personal experiences that shaped the band’s journey since their formation in 2003.

While the song celebrates Ocala’s enduring spirit, the physical landscape of the city has continued to change over the past eleven years.

Other locations, like the Discovery Center at Tuscawilla Park and Belleview United Methodist Church, still stand as testaments to the band’s early days performing at youth centers and battle of the bands competitions.

Since March 2024, A Day to Remember has consisted of McKinnon, Kevin Skaff, Alex Shelnutt, and Neil Westfall. Over the past two years, the band has entered one of the most active chapters of its career.

In May 2024, the band released the high-energy single “Feedback,” their first new music in two years. That song reached as high as No. 5 on the U.S. Main Rock Charts.

The album was followed by the “Least Anticipated Album Tour,” which saw the band headline arenas across North America throughout the summer of 2024.

That tour included a high-profile performance at Rockville in Daytona Beach, bringing the band back home to Florida.

In February 2025, the band announced the surprise release of their eighth studio album, Big Ole Album Vol. 1.

The record, which was released physically first before hitting streaming services on March 21, 2025, features new hits like “Make It Make Sense” and “LeBron.”

McKinnon described the album as a return to the band’s creative energy, noting that they have already begun work on a follow-up, Vol. 2.

The band’s schedule this year is equally packed. A Day to Remember is currently preparing for the “Maximum Fun Tour” alongside fellow Florida pop-punk legends Yellowcard. The tour is set to visit major festivals across the globe, including a return to Daytona International Speedway for Welcome to Rockville in May.

Despite their international superstardom and a discography that now spans over twenty years, the band continues to credit their hometown for their success.

During a previous visit where they were awarded the key to the city, McKinnon urged fans to “support local music,” noting that the vibrant Ocala music scene of the early 2000s is the only reason the band exists today.
