A 34-year-old man lost his life Saturday night after his motorcycle slammed into the back of a pickup truck in Marion County.
The fatal collision occurred along State Road 40, just west of SW 185 Avenue Road and near Juliette Falls Golf Course, at approximately 7:40 p.m. on April 4, 2026.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when he approached a pickup truck from behind.
The motorcycle’s right front section struck the left rear of the pickup, causing the bike to overturn several times. The 34-year-old driver was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. FHP investigators noted that the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 17-year-old male from Ocala, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. The report notes that he was wearing his seatbelt during the crash.
The accident remains under further investigation by Trooper J. Wildeman-Stuart and Corporal B. Detweiler of the FHP.
At least four other motorcyclists have lost their lives on Marion County roadways this year.
Two weeks ago, friends and family mourned the loss of three Ocala parents killed in separate motorcycle accidents just 18 hours apart. Two of those incidents occurred in Marion County, while the other took place in Citrus County.
Before that, two other motorcyclists were involved in fatal crashes locally this year.
