Motorists traveling through Marion County should prepare for a series of nighttime lane and ramp closures on Interstate 75 starting Sunday, as the Florida Department of Transportation continues major enhancement projects.
Beginning Sunday, May 10, and continuing through Thursday morning, May 14, crews will implement single and double-lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-75 between State Road 200 and State Road 326. These closures will take place nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to accommodate excavation, embankment work, and resurfacing activities.
Further south, another set of nightly closures is scheduled from Sunday, May 10, through Friday, May 15, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Northbound and southbound single and double lanes will be closed from County Road 484 to State Road 200 for the milling and paving of the auxiliary lane.
In addition to the mainline closures, the northbound I-75 on-ramp from State Road 40 will be completely closed from Monday, May 11, at 9 p.m. through Tuesday, May 12, at 6 a.m.
During that time, motorists on S.R. 40 wishing to access the interstate will be detoured east to NW 27th Avenue, then north to U.S. 27, where they can access the northbound I-75 on-ramp.
These traffic changes are part of two ongoing FDOT projects designed to reduce congestion and improve safety on the heavily traveled corridor. One project, which began in spring 2025, focuses on the stretch from south of S.R. 44 in Sumter County to S.R. 200 in Marion County. The second project, launched in fall 2025, covers the area from S.R. 200 to S.R. 326.
Both initiatives involve adding auxiliary lanes between interchanges and making infrastructure improvements at several exits, including S.R. 326 and S.R. 40, to provide better resiliency for the roadway.
