A 78-year-old Marion County retiree has claimed a $117,000 prize from a lottery ticket she purchased at a local convenience, just five weeks after two Ocala residents claimed separate $100,000 prizes from tickets they bought at the same Publix next to a different retirement community.
Shirley Jean Deptolla, who lives in Del Webb Spruce Creek in Summerfield, claimed a top lottery prize worth $117,957.17 from the Fantasy 5 evening drawing held on Wednesday, May 6.
Deptolla matched all five winning numbers (6, 9, 11, 17, and 31) in the drawing and chose to receive her winnings as a one-time cash option.
The winning “QuickPick” ticket was purchased at the Quick King Food Store #8, located at 14725 SE US Highway 441 in Summerfield. The convenience store, which shares a building with an Exxon Mobil gas station, sold the only top-prize winning ticket for that particular drawing.
Fantasy 5 is a daily game where players select five numbers from 1 to 36.
This year, multiple Marion County residents have claimed prizes in the game, which is played statewide.
In late March, two Fantasy 5 tickets were sold at the same Publix, less than two days apart. That grocery store is situated next to On Top of the World, another large retirement community in Marion County.
In December, a Marion County resident won over $67,000 from a winning Fantasy 5 ticket.
The winning ticket is also not the only that has been sold from a Quick King Food Store in recent months.
In December, a $1 million lottery ticket was claimed by an Ocala resident. That Quick King Food Store is located at 7947 W Highway 40 in Ocala.
