An Ocala man has been officially identified as the winner of a $1-million scratch-off ticket purchased at a local liquor store, joining another Marion County resident who recently claimed a winning $10-million ticket.

Richard Carr was recently revealed by the state of Florida as the winner of the winning ticket, which he purchased at the Marion Liquor, located at 3951 S Pine Avenue in Ocala, on March 26.

Following the win, Carr elected to receive his prize as a one-time, lump-sum payout of $556,000.

According to Florida Statute 24.1051, the names of winners who claim lottery prizes valued at $250,000 or more are exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed.

Marion County property records indicate that shortly after claiming the massive windfall, Carr purchased a .43-acre lot in Anthony for $85,000 in May 2026.

Carr is the second Marion County resident in recent days to be publicly identified as a major lottery winner following the expiration of the state’s 90-day anonymity window.

Christopher Trail, 51, of Ocklawaha, was recently revealed as the winner of a $10 million Powerball Double Play prize.

Trail purchased his winning ticket for the March 11 drawing at a Circle K in nearby Leesburg and claimed his prize in Tallahassee on March 18.

Additionally, just eight days before Carr’s $1 million ticket was sold at Marion Liquor, another scratch-off ticket with a $2,500-a-week-for-life prize was sold at a 7-Eleven just south of Marion County.

Additionally, two other individuals both claimed six-figure prizes earlier this year after they purchased separate Fantasy 5 tickets from the exact same Publix less than 72 hours apart.
