Habitat for Humanity of Marion County hosted a double house blessing ceremony recently, officially welcoming two local families into their brand-new homes.
Nicole Connelly and Charlene Tucker both earned the keys to their respective homes after completing the rigorous homeownership program through the organization.
Representatives from Habitat for Humanity of Marion County, local volunteers, and community members gathered last month to commemorate the major milestones alongside the families.

During the double ceremony, heartfelt prayers were said over each of the new structures, and the homeowners were presented with special house-warming gifts to mark the start of their new chapters.
To earn their homes through the program, both families had to complete hundreds of “sweat equity” hours, working directly alongside community volunteers and construction staff to build the properties.

“After completing their sweat equity hours and working alongside volunteers and staff, [these women] now step into a future rooted in stability, safety, and hope,” reads a statement from Habitat for Humanity of Marion County regarding the transformative power of the program.
Founded in 1990, Habitat for Humanity of Marion County has built or rehabilitated hundreds of local homes, providing critical affordable housing solutions for low-income families throughout the community.

Nicole and Charlene join a growing network of local residents who have achieved the dream of homeownership through the non-profit organization.
Recent homeowners include Ruby Hernandez and Kyndall Ritzie, who received their keys last April, Vanessa Mingo, who contributed over 400 hours of volunteer service before earning her home, and the mother-daughter duo of Jacquelyn Goodman and Danielle Roberts.
