Liquor-seeking Ocala man nabbed after attempting to break into minimart

David Allen Collins

A 58-year-old Ocala man was arrested early Thursday morning after admitting to trying to break into a minimart.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Kwik King at 3820 S.E. Lake Weir Ave. after receiving a call about David Allen Collins throwing a concrete block into the store’s window. Collins returned to the minimart while deputies were there and admitted to trying to break the window to gain access and steal liquor, a sheriff’s office report states.

The owner was in the store when the incident took place and positively identified Collins. He was then taken into custody, trespassed from the location and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Collins was charged with unarmed burglary of a commercial structure and was being held on $20,000 bond. He’s due in court Oct. 13 at 9 a.m.
