Marion County firefighters were dispatched to 107th Street in Belleview early on Monday morning after receiving a report that a residence in the area was on fire.
Shortly after 4 a.m., multiple Marion County Fire Rescue units responded to a vacant double-wide mobile home located in the 6500 block of SE 107th Street. According to MCFR, the 911 caller had advised that no one had lived at the residence for many years.
Battalion Chief 3 was the first MCFR unit to arrive on scene, and a working fire was observed along with possible electrical wires that were down. Additional units consisting of Engine 18, Ladder 2, Ladder 1, Rescue 518, Rescue 530, Tanker 30, and Support 1 arrived on scene moments later.
MCFR stated in a social media post that Battalion Chief 3 established command and directed the firefighters into a defensive posture due to the mobile home being fully engulfed in flames.
Three hose lines were deployed by firefighters – two were utilized to attack the fire and the third was used to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby homes.
A primary and secondary search of the mobile home was conducted and no one was found inside. A total of 18 firefighters and three suppression units were utilized to combat the blaze, and the fire was called under control by 4:17 a.m.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
There were no injuries reported to civilians or firefighters.
