26-year-old Inverness motorcyclist killed in accident

A 26-year-old Inverness motorcyclist was killed early Monday after crashing into a tree in Citrus County.

Michael Ferrin, 26, of Inverness was riding a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on West Fort Island Trail when he failed to properly negotiate a left curve on the roadway, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Ferrin traveled onto the grass shoulder and crashed into a tree as a result, the report stated.

Ferrin died at the scene of the crash.

The FHP report noted he had been wearing a helmet.
